United Way gives $15,000 grant
to assist veterans in Waukesha County

In late December 2018, the United Way of Greater Milwaukee and Waukesha County made a $15,000 grant to Wisconsin Veterans Network (VetsNet) for veterans in Waukesha County whose needs do not meet the criteria of any usual veteran benefit program. The grant specifies that those needs will be identified, and funding approved, by either the Waukesha County Veteran Service Officer (CVSO) or the office of the Center for Veterans Issues (CVI) in Waukesha. In order to qualify for assistance, the veteran must be a resident of Waukesha County. Guidelines for application and approval were developed by the CVSO, CVI and VetsNet and approved by the United Way.

The needs addressed by this grant include, but are not limited to:

  1. Car repairs
  2. Minor home repairs
  3. Professional licensing fees required for employment
  4. Apparel or equipment required for employment
  5. Assistance not provided for under VA or WDVA benefit guidelines
  6. Other needs for which the CVSO or CVI have no access to routine resources

We are grateful for the support of the United Way in helping address the critical needs of those who served, allowing them to achieve and maintain stability for themselves and their families!
